Underfloor Heating for a Basildon Renovation & Extension
Underfloor heating installed throughout a renovation and extension project in Basildon using a low-profile overlay board system. Designed to work within existing floor heights, the system delivers efficient, even heat across old and new spaces without major structural disruption.

Project Challenges
This renovation and extension project in Basildon required a heating solution that could be installed throughout the existing property while integrating seamlessly with the new extension. Maintaining floor height levels was a key constraint, making a traditional screeded underfloor heating system impractical.
To overcome this, a low-profile overlay board system was specified and installed across the entire home. The challenge was designing the system to deliver consistent heat output in both the original building and the extended areas, each with differing heat loss characteristics.
Alongside the underfloor heating, we also designed and installed the air source heat pump system. This required careful heat loss calculations and system sizing to ensure the low-temperature underfloor heating operated efficiently and reliably. Zoning, pipe layouts, and flow rates were all carefully engineered so the underfloor heating and heat pump functioned as a single, integrated system.

Really happy with the results, my feet are cosy all year round.
Project Challenges
The finished system provides even, comfortable warmth throughout the renovated and extended home, with underfloor heating operating efficiently at low flow temperatures in perfect alignment with the heat pump. The overlay board system allowed the installation to be completed without disrupting existing floor levels, while still delivering strong thermal performance.
By designing and installing both the underfloor heating and heat pump, the system works seamlessly as a complete solution, offering improved comfort, reduced running costs, and long-term efficiency. The discreet nature of underfloor heating enhances the layout of the home, while the heat pump provides a future-ready, low-carbon heating system suited to modern living.
